Alpha Gamma Delta's History

Picture
Alpha Gamma Delta was founded on May 30, 1904 at Syracuse University in New York. Our eleven founding members were women of great character and accomplishment interested in creating a sisterhood founded upon strong values and beliefs. With the addition of chapters in Canada, Alpha Gam became the first to reach international membership. Since our founding, Alpha Gam has installed chapters at 184 colleges and universities in North America and celebrates a membership of over 155,000 women.

Theta Chi Chapter's History

Picture
The Theta Chi chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta was officially installed at Virginia Tech on April 29, 2006. During the Fall semester of 2005, Virginia Tech's Panhellenic Council approached Alpha Gam about starting a new chapter on campus and held a private recruitment to give a select group of women the opportunity to build and expand the chapter. We are the 180th chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta and have had the pleasure of meeting our sisters from numerous other chapters in several states.
